What counts as zakatable wealth?
Zakat is calculated on surplus wealth that has been in your possession for one lunar year — cash and savings, gold and silver, business stock, and money owed to you. Debts and immediate expenses are deducted before the 2.5% is applied.
Cash, savings and bank balances
Gold and silver at current market value
Business assets and stock held for sale
Money owed to you that you expect to recover
This calculator is a guide. For complex estates or business assets, please consult a qualified scholar. Penny Appeal South Asia distributes Zakat strictly in accordance with Islamic jurisprudence.
